The loudest and most outspoken work to date. It departs from colour built up layer upon layer, each one polished and refined in turn a clear echo of my research into structural colour, where this process mirrors one found in nature itself.

Yet here the result is an inflated, aggressive sheen, one that seeks to impress rather than invite. The work reflects a very human drive toward competition and the display of power.

Central to Macho Metal is its vulnerability to change through damage. With a key an everyday object that typically signals ownership and control the visitor is invited to scratch into the carefully polished surface. The work thus undergoes an irreversible evolution: from a façade of perfection to a bearer of human presence.
